Helen Wright Maynard was born in Burlington township, April 8th, 1858, where she spent the early years of her life. On December 25th, 1883 she was united in marriage with Edwin L. Maynard, and this union was blessed with two children. Mr. Maynard preceded her in death on January 1, 1915.
Since the death of her husband she had made her home with her daughter, where through her long suffering everything possible was done for her relief and comfort. Mrs. Maynard's kind disposition expressed itself in the affectionate service toward her loved ones and helpful acts toward her neighbors and in the making of many friends. She was one of the oldest members of the local camp of Royal Neighbors of America, having been a member of that organization for over 31 years.
She leaves to mourn her death two children, one son, John Maynard and one daughter, Mrs. May Petersen, both of Hampshire, three sisters, Mrs. Harriet Dougherty of Elgin, Mrs. Ida Schairer of Burlington and Mrs. Ross Campbell of (unreadable), six grandchildren, ...and many other relatives and warm friends.
Funeral services were held in the late home Tuesday afternoon, two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Giese. Interment was in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
