Obituary
Evelyn "Ruth" Moore

1925 - 2022

Ruth Moore, 96 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, while on vacation in Hilton Head with her beloved family.

Born June 24, 1925, in Sandusky, Ohio to Victor and Mildred (Mayes) Braden. The family moved to Monroe when Ruth was 2.

Ruth married LaVerne Moore in 1943 in Augusta, Georgia. They made their home in Monroe where they raised two daughters, Karen (Bradley) Spencer of Traverse City and Beverly Moore of Monroe. Ruth lived with Beverly for the past 8 years.

She was employed at Monroe Auto Equipment and JC Penney before she joined First National Bank. Ruth retired from Security Bank of Monroe after 30 years, in 1988. She loved playing cards, playing tennis, doing crossword puzzles, and traveling. She traveled extensively with family and was always up for the next adventure. Ruth was a social butterfly that smiled at everyone she met. She had a quick wit, a keen sense of humor, and always kept her family on their toes. Ruth had a truly generous heart and will be deeply missed by everyone.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, six grandchildren, Karin (Glennis) McSpadden, Martin (Ragan) Lake, Todd (Angie) Spencer, Karla (Keith) Sobczak, Aric Spencer, and Mitchell Lake; six great-grandchildren, plus a bonus great grandchild along with her family, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Ralph (Cheryl) Braden and Joseph Braden of West Lafayette, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, three brothers: Dan Braden, Paul Braden and Vic Braden; two sisters, Donna Schmidt and Betty Morse, and two grandchildren, Daniel Lake and Korri Lake.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home from 4pm to 8pm. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held the following day, Monday, March 7, 2022, at the funeral home beginning at 1pm with Cathy Brillhart officiating. Burial will take place after the service at Roselawn Memorial Park.

For those who wish, memorial donations in honor of Ruth are suggested to the Dundee Senior Center.

From LoMarie when she set up the memorial: Ruth is my first cousin, our fathers were brothers. She always went by "Ruth".
