"Norton Amsberry, one of the well known pioneer citizens of this part of Custer County, died at Broken Bow, Monday, April 16, 1934, following a long period of illness.
Mr. Amsberry was born in Iowa, February 28, 1864 and reached the age of 70 years, 1 month and 15 days. He came to Custer County in the early 80's and took a homestead northeast of Mason City and made his home in this county since that time. For a number of years he was engaged in various lines of business at Ansley. Mr. Amsberry was active and dependable in his duties of citizenship and had a host of friends among the early settlers.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two daughters and several grandchildren; also three brothers, W.Z. Amsberry of Mason City, Chas. Amsberry of Broken Bow and Lyman Amsberry of Thedford; and one sister, Mrs. H.E. Zimmerman of Ansley and a number of near relatives, besides a large circle of friends.
Funeral rites, largely attended by relatives , were held at the Baptist Church in Ansley at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment at the Ansley Cemetery."
