Funeral services for Jo Randall are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 in the Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale. Burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Pastor Ed Truelson, officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren; Christopher Haupt, Jeremy Haupt, AnnaMarie Randall, Nicholas Randall, Daniel Haupt, Cameron Randall. Jo "Nano" Randall was born December 24, 1926 in Roland, Iowa to Juel and Carrie (Allness) Sandvold. She was a 1945 graduate of Roland High School. Jo attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and went on to play Semi-Pro Basketball in the Midwestern Region in 1947 and 1948 and even scored 63 points in one game. On March 20, 1949, she and Ted Randall were married at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa. They celebrated their 64th anniversary Wednesday. They lived in Point Comfort, Delphi, Iowa Maryville, Tennessee and transferred to Rockdale in 1972. Jo served as Choir Director in her memberships in the Lutheran Churches for over 60 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale and served as Sunday School Teacher. Member of the Rockdale Matinee Music Club and served as State President in the National Federation of Music Clubs. Member of Rockdale Home Demonstration Club and had worked in the public schools as a substitute teacher. Jo passed away Thursday morning, March 21, 2013 in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale, reaching the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents. Two grandchildren, Jaime Randall and Bryan Randall. Two brothers, Juell O. "J.R." Sandvold and David Sandvold and their dear friends, Uncle Swede and Barb Nysven. Surviving; Her best friend and husband, Ted Randall of Rockdale. Their children; Steven James Randall of Bastrop, Becky Randall Haupt of Rockdale, Scott Juel Randall and wife Alvina of Rockdale, Douglas Eric Randall and wife Janis of Mt.Pleasant and Daniel Lee Randall and wife Katie of Tomball. Special daughter-in-law, Becky Bruening Randall of Rockdale. Sister; Mary Ann Sandvold of Roland, Iowa. Sisters-in-law; Wilma Spungin of California and Lois Sandvold of Nevada, Iowa. 12 grandchildren; Nick and Kelsey Randall, Christopher, Jeremy and Daniel Haupt, AnnaMarie and Ashley Randall, Carrie and Melissa Randall, Cameron, Katzy and Kylie Randall. Three great-grandchildren; Shelbi Haupt, Gaven Umbaugh, Lawson Randall.
