Julie Ellis, 54, of Marshalltown passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on October 28, 2014 at Iowa River Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will held on Sunday, November 2, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Marshalltown.

She was born on September 13, 1960 in Marshalltown to Larry and Mariann Cunningham. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1979 and later attended MCC. On March 19, 1983 she was united in marriage to Michael Ellis for the past 31 years. After marriage they were blessed with three beautiful daughters Brittney, Caitlin, and Morgan.

Julie was employed as an early childhood teacher most of her life, and most recently at Elim Luthern Church daycare.

Julie enjoyed family gatherings, camping, family vacations, baking, backyard fires, and working with young children. Julie also enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was most happy when she had a house full of children and grandchildren. The family was blessed to have such an inspirational wife, mom, and Nana for many years. We will miss her beautiful smile and caring ways and always putting others first before herself.

Left to cherish her memories are husband Mike, daughters Brittney (Blake) Benson of State Center, Caitlin (Jacob) of Marshalltown, and Morgan (Jeremy) of Marshalltown. Also her four grandchildren Addisen, Beau, Berkley and Bia whom she cherished, and yorkie (Jaxson). She is also survived by brothers Guy (Trish) Cunningham of Des Moines, Todd Cunningham of Des Moines, Terry Cunningham of Iowa City, Jay (Beth) Cunningham of Virginia, Casey Cunningham, sister Sharon (Harold) Foulk of LeGrand, and all her nieces and nephews. Also in-laws, Orville/Val Ellis, sister-in-law Connie Ellis. Special loved ones through this journey are niece Jillissa Foulk, and good friends Mitch and Tammi Woosley.

Julie was preceded in death by her mother Mariann, father Larry, and younger sister Cristin (Roger) Freiboth.

Memorial services for Julie Ellis, 54, of Marshalltown, were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Pastor Fred Berry officiated.

Mitch Woosley, Edward Phillips, Scot Mason, Blake Benson, Jacob Mull and Jeremy Fehrmann served as pallbearers.

Guests were present from Elim Lutheran Church Daycare, Community YMCA, MHS Class of 1979, Marshalltown Water Works, Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon and Iowa River Hospice.
