He was born on Feb. 2, 1932, to the late Abe Adams and Savannah Grayson in Rosedale, Miss. A.V. was married to the late Dorothy Adams (Anderson) for 46 years.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1953.
A.V. worked at Pabst Blue Ribbon, later for the Peoria Area Food Bank.
He is survived by two sons, Samuel Scott and Stanley Adams; one daughter, Alice Fay (David) Adams; and one godson, Tony (Juanita) Foster.
A.V. was preceded by three brothers and seven sisters.
Interment for A.V. will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
