Beryl Edith Mansfield Dubay passed away after a long illness in Tujunga, Calif., on Sept. 9, 2014.
She was born the 5th child of , both born in JonesportEdna Kelley Mansfield and Harvey Foster Mansfield in East Machias on Oct. 9, 1922. She spent most of her childhood in South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School in 1939. After graduating from business college in Portland, she worked at the Naval Station in Portsmouth, N.H., until her marriage to Bernard William Dubay on Oct. 19, 1943.
During her years as a mother and wife, Beryl and Bernard lived in Madison, Cape Elizabeth and South Portland, and Montpelier, Vt. Beryl worked as an administrative assistant at the Union Mutual Insurance Company in Portland, then moved on to work for several Banking and Insurance commissioners in Montpelier. Finally, after working in the Barnstable County Superintendent's Office on Cape Cod, she retired to pursue travel plans and to spend time with family and friends around the country. After being widowed in 2002, she spent much time in Essex Junction, Vt., and Glendale, Calif.

Beryl is survived by her daughter Karen Holly of Ventura, Calif., her son James of Carson City, Nev., her daughter Margaret and son-in-law Todd Centybear of Essex Junction, Vt., her son Brad (Bernard Junior) of South Dennis, Mass., and her son Kenneth of Burbank, Calif. She is also survived by eight grandsons, Hans Hoeg and his wife Shannon of Washington, D.C., Andrew Centybear and his wife Tara Smith of Cardiff-by-the Sea, Calif., Braden Holly and his wife Marianne of La Crescenta, Calif., Nathan Centybear and his wife Yurie of Essex Junction, Vt., Adam Dubay of Tennessee, Chad Dubay, Jared Dubay, and Alex Dubay, all of Sugarhill, Ga.; two nieces, Nancy Rice of Andover, Mass., and Susan Mansfield of Woonsocket, R.I., and one nephew, Harvey Mansfield of Callaway, Md.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Bernard Dubay; two sisters, Lois Rice and Alwynne Patterson, and two brothers, George Mansfield and Irving Mansfield.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Congregational Cemetery, 533 Spurwink Ave., Cape Elizabeth on Nov. 8, at 12 p.m., followed by a gathering of family and friends (location TBA) after the service and burial. Initial arrangements were handled by Crippen Mortuary, Honolulu St., La Crescenta, Calif.
