LaVerne M. Hale, 80, Bismarck, North Dakota, died, Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck with Msgr. Thomas Richter, officiating. A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

LaVerne was born December 18, 1933, at Hazen, North Dakota, to John and Bertha (Zuern) Fandrich. She was raised and educated on the homestead north of Hazen and graduated from Hazen High School. On October 11, 1968, she married Hayden L. Hale in Bismarck. He passed away in 2002. LaVerne worked at Bismarck State College for 24 years, the Holiday Inn for 10 years, and at the State Capitol for three years. She loved to shoot pool, play cards, camp, fish, cross country ski, embroider, and crochet. She made many afghans for family members. She was a member of the Moose Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Putnam, Humboldt, Arizona; one son, Glenn (Nanette) Moos, Bismarck; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hayden, and her sister, Janette.
