Gene E. Pierce, age 79, died unexpectedly Monday, November 3, 2014 at his home. He was born in Bucksport, ME on September 23, 1935 a son of the late Lloyd and Irene (Curtis) Pierce.

Mr. Pierce was a graduate of Cony High School in Augusta and attended the University of Maine in Orono.

He was a US Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Mr. Pierce had been employed for 26 years with the Maine State Police, retiring in 1986. Following retirement, he worked for 10 years at Tilton Insurance in China.

He was pre-deceased by his sister, Marilyn Lajoie.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife of 36 years, Laura D. (Dow) Pierce of China; two sons: Terrance and Todd Pierce; a brother, Kenneth Pierce and his wife Judy of Windham; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in China Village Cemetery Extension, Neck Rd., China.
