Jasper was the s/o Isaac J. & Sarah (Maynard) Stacy. He married Mary Jane Cline 27 May 1902 in Martin Co., KY. Jasper and his brother Simon Stacey were shot in Dingess, WV., by Deputy Sheriff Elisha Wellman & his son. Simon died instantly, and Jasper was taken by cargo train down to Williamson Hospital where he died from his wounds in surgery. They were buried side by side on top of a hill in Inez, off route #40. The coffins looked alike and when they got to the top of the hill it wasn't know which was which. Rather than open the coffins to see my granny told them they had suffered enough, and to leave them alone. One monument was erected and placed between the two graves.
