Funeral services for Mia Latracia Braswell, who died May 1, were held Tuesday at Griggs Chapel A.M.E. Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Donnie R. Braswell officiated.

Miss Braswell was born in Macon on August 2, 1978, the daughter of Joanne Braswell. She was educated in Jones County public schools.

From the time she was born, Miss Braswell shared a special bond with people in general. She was always happy, friendly, never met a stranger, and showed nothing but love to all who entered her life.

Although she never learned to even sign her name, Miss Braswell loved to read. She read anything placed within her sight. She taught herself to read as well as to speak Spanish and her ability to count was never ending. She would watch movies and memorize each character's lines word for word. Mia loved music and singing.

After being diagnosed with Cushings Syndrome, Miss Braswell gradually became confined to the house.

Survivors include her mother, Joanne Braswell of Round Oak; grandmother, Lucille Folds Braswell of Round Oak; great-aunts and uncles, Maureen and John Clemons of Eatonton, Dr. Mary and Ike Houston, Jimmy and Susie Braswell and Carlton and Gloria Braswell, all of Macon; devoted cousins, Mary Braswell and Bobby Ammons, both of Round Oak; godmothers, Donna Franks, Arbra Childs, and Joe Ann Stewart, all of Gray, and Geneva Miller of Alpharetta, a devoted former care giver, Daren Webb of Macon, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Grady Clemons, Tony Braswell, Marvin Johnson, Ira Houston, David Banta, James Mathis, Larry Wimes, Chap Nelson, Ivan Houston, and Bobby Ammons. Honorary pallbeareres were Joseph Braswell, John A. Clemons, Jr., and Willie Clemons. Flower ladies were ladies of New Street Tabernacle of Praise & Worship, family members and friends.
