Obituary

Imogene Stone Camp, age 85, died on October 24, 2014, in Sylacauga, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Sylacauga on November 1st at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour before the service. The burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga Mrs. Camp was born in Talladega, Alabama, on May 12, 1929, to Mr. and Mrs. William Stone. She was married to Dr. Charles L. Camp for 44 years. Mrs. Camp was a graduate of Jacksonville State University where she was a member of the basketball team. She was a member of The Cherokee Garden Club, the Matrons Study Club, and the Alabama and Talladega County Medical Auxiliaries. A member and leader of First United Methodist Church, she was active in the UMW and taught the 6th grade Sunday school class for over 20 years. She was also a talented gardener and floral arranger and won numerous ribbons in local and state garden club flower shows. She was active in the community, serving on the Talladega County Council for Children and Youth, as well as, other civic organizations. Dr. and Mrs. Camp were both active in sponsorship and support of the Sylacauga Boy's Club. Mrs. Camp was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Charles L. Camp, her sister Mrs. Fred Lovelace, and her grandson Roger Stephen Morrow, Jr. Mrs. Camp was a magnificent mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by three daughters, Angela Baker and husband George of Boulder, CO, Beth Babin and husband Dan of Scottsboro, and Dawn Camp-Sorrell and husband Stephen of Chelsea, grandchildren; Charles Camp Morrow, Samantha Anne Morrow Kimble, Jean Anne Babin Kim, Daniel Timothy Babin, Miles Christian Babin, Hannah Jean Sorrell, and Preston Stephen Sorrell, as well as a great-grandchild, Lachlan Stephen Kimble. Pallbearers are Mr. 'Smokie' Comer, Daniel Babin, Charles Morrow, Preston Sorrell, and Rodney Waller. Curtis and Son will direct the service. Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church of Sylacauga.
