Lee (Doug) Douglas Rainey, 59, of Memphis, MO passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at the Boone Medical Center in Columbia, MO after a six-year battle with cancer.

Doug was born September 17, 1950, in Mexico, MO, the son of Charles and Covella Rainey. After a 16-year engagement, on May 29, 2004 in Memphis, MO, he was united in marriage to K. J. D.

Doug attended Saint Brendan Catholic School and graduated from Mexico High School, Mexico, MO, in 1968. He attended Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO graduating in 1972 with a degree in Wildlife Biology. After graduating from Central Missouri State University, he immediately began his 30-plus year career with the Missouri Department of Conservation. During his tenure, he served as a fishery biologist then as a wildlife biologist and ending his career in private land services until retirement in 2004. During his 30-plus year career, he also owned and operated Rainey’s Taxidermy.

Doug started the Pheasants Forever chapter in Scotland County and assisted in starting Quail Forever in Knox County. Doug’s major passion was fishing and anything pertaining to the great outdoors.

Doug was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Irene Harris and paternal grandparents, John and Nancy Rainey; father-in-law Barney Drummond.

He is survived by his wife, K. J.; parents, Charles and Covella Rainey; son E. Rainey; two granddaughters, E. and E. Rainey; sister J. G. and husband T.; brother, N. R. and wife D.; mother-in-law, A. D.; brother-in-law K. D. and wife C.; two nieces, C. and A. D.; four nephews, G. and J. G., C. and M. R. and a host of close friends and coworkers.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
