David L. Brown, 79, of Burlington, Iowa, died at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at his home.
Born April 17, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Arthur H.and Myrtie Charlotte McCorkel Brown. He married Marguerite Marie Michel July 29, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Brown was Art Director at the National Research Bureau for 23 years and was in the advertising department at C & E's for 19 years.
Survivors include his wife Marguerite, five daughters, Claire H. Brown of Alexandria, VA, Elizabeth Buckman and Kathleen Lee both of Burlington. Amy O'Brien of Lombard, Illinois and Jennifer Tausek of North Kingstown, R.I. One son, David A Brown of Hazel Green, Wisconsin. Five brothers, John Richard Brown of Riverside, CA, Stanley E. Brown of Carpentersville, Illinois, Thomas E. Brown of Lombard, Illinois, and James A Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada. 15 Grandchildren, 5 Step-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
The funeral for Mr. Brown will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Burlington. Burial with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52, and the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for an Art Scholarship at the Burlington Art Guild.
