Arnold Truman Young, 67, of 1997 River Road, Stanley, died on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, in Waynesboro at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and John Leavell.
He was born on April 12, 1947, in Stanley and was a son of the late Rufus and Jean Kern Young.
Mr. Young worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad, retiring as foreman in 2004 with over 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Young Reed and husband, Robert, of Stanley; a son, Michael Todd Young of Stanley; one brother, Larry Young and wife, Dorothy, of Stanley; four sisters, Marjorie Leavell and husband, John, of Waynesboro, Belle Blosser and husband, Jim, of Stanley, Sherry Dean and husband, Rudy, and Jill Young and fiancé, Kevin Olinger, all of Shenandoah; three grandsons, Hunter Reed and fiancée, Sara Jenkins, and Colten Reed, all of Stanley, and Christopher Young of Hawaii; Sue Armbruster, mother of his children, of Elkton; and best friend, his dog, Bubba. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and John Young.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Mark Ray. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at the church.
