Lois Grier was the daughter of Clark and Mary Caroline (Walthour) Grier.
She married first John Wyncoup Murry on Aug. 24, 1899, in Laurens County, Georgia. They were the parents of John (b. 1901), Jean (b. 1902), and Clark Grier Murry (1903-1997). She and her husband were divorced and she moved to New York City.
She married Arthur Julian Zellner on Dec. 29, 1913, in Hempstead, Nassau County, New York. They had no children. They moved to Los Angeles California where they both found work as screen writers. They divorced at some point in the 1920s and he married Helena Mallett Lovett on May 12, 1927.
She married Thomas J. Haley sometime before the 1930 census taken on April 8-9, 1930. They were living in a rooming house at 201 Laughlin Park, Los Angeles when the census was taken. She listed her occupation as "authoress," although she had not had a movie produced from her writing since 1924.
