Ed Conley was an extra pitcher on the 1884 Providence Grays baseball team, a now long gone National League team. 1884 was also the year the team beat the American League's New York Metropolitans, winning 3 games in a 3 game series to become "world champions".
Ed Conley pitched in 8 games, with a 4-4 record. After the 1884 season, he never played pro-ball again, and died at the age of 30 of pulmonary phthisis.
