Stephen Sobiech, age 88, died at his home in Rice on Wednesday. He was born in Oppeln, Germany and came to the U. S with his parents at the age of 1 1/2 [NYC on May 26, 1874]. He farmed in the North Prairie community until 19 years ago when he moved to Rice.

Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth; two sons John, Little Falls and Alois, Bowlus; and seven daughters: Mrs. Sam Opatz (Adeline), Sauk Rapids; Mrs. Cy Feltl (Ann), Hopkins; Mrs. Peter Krych (Agnes), Minneapolis; Mrs. Ray Geltl (Genevieve), Hopkins; Mrs. Jerome Petron (Marcella), Royalton; Mrs. Henry Petron (Lucy), Hibbing; and Mrs. Adolph Smieja (Delphine), Little Falls.

One sister, Mrs. Bertha Kannar, Minneapolis and two brothers, Nicholas Sobiech, Little Falls and Walter, Royalton, also survive. There are 56 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday from Holy Cross church in North Prairie.

Mr. Sobiech was a member of the St. Joseph society and the Rosary society of North Prairie.
