Mr. David Wayne Stegall of Newport departed this life on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at his home. He was born January 24, 1940, in Stegall Arkansas, Jackson co. the son of Perry Stegall and Nora Magdalene Honey Stegall.

Mr. Stegall grew up in Haskell, Arkansas where he attended High School. Following High School Mr. Stegall enlisted in the U.S. Army serving from 1959 to 1962. He was also a member of the Army National Guard.

As a young man, Mr. Stegall enjoyed hunting and fishing. He excelled in and was a talented player of Fast Pitch Softball, Horse Shoe Pitching, and Pool. Mr. Stegall was an award-winning pitcher in Fast Pitch Softball, a charter member of the Arkansas Association of Pool Players and an accomplished pool player. He was also very talented in the game of Horseshoe Pitching. Mr. Stegall organized and was in charge of the Horse Shoe Pitching Contest at Portfest.

Mr. David Stegall married Miss Sue Taylor on November 26, 1963. Together they started Stegall Furniture in Jacksonport and they enjoyed working together for over 30 until they retired from the furniture business. Mr. Stegall also worked for the U.S. Post office as a mail carrier until his retirement in 1999.

He was a faithful member of the Jacksonport Baptist Church. Mr. Stegall was also a devoted student of the Bible and enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years.

He will be fondly remembered by his family, church family, and friends, as "Cool Dude," "Cool Daddy," "Papa Cool" and his favorite, "Mr. Cool" and for his signature response of, "Everything's lovely!"

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister , Camilla White.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Sue Taylor Stegall of the home; three sons, Gary Wayne Stegall of Benton, Marvin David Stegall of Hot Springs Village, and Tony Stegall of Benton; 5 grandchildren; 5great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bob Stegall of Benton, Thomas Stegall of Rogers, Don Stegall of Hot Springs, and Jerry Walker of Meza, Arizona.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday, October 25, 2014, 6:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at the Jacksonport Baptist Church with Brother Ray Fultner, Brother Roger Tidwell, and Mr. Billy Max Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Watson Cemetery in Newport.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Glen Walls, Billy Max Warren, Don Roberts, Mark Curtis, Jay Guffey, and Harold Clark. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Jones, John Nance, Ronnie "Poncho" Smotherman, Bob Smith, Elaine "Pretty Big" Thomas, Thomas Gregory, Steve Coe, Emogene Morris, Linda Adams, and Vernadine Rutledge.
