Herbert S. Arney, 86, of Hanna City since 1943, died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Farmington Country Manor, where he lived for the past year.
Born May 4, 1912, in Olean, Mo., to Charles Roscoe Arney and Nancy Ellen Wiser Arney, he married Cleora L. Blackburn on Jan. 6, 1934, in Linn, Mo. She died March 4, 1991.
Three brothers also preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Shirley McCoy of Elmwood; and several nieces and nephews.
He worked at Caterpillar Inc.'s Morton Parts Plant for 32 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Peoria.
Graveside services will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Elmwood.
