Funeral Services for William
Powel Brooks, 75, Jesse, will be
conducted at 2 pm Friday in
the Guyandotte Baptist Church
in Jesse with the Rev. O. A. Lamb
and Rev. Dewey A. Wilson officiating.
Brooks died at 8 a.m. Wednesday
en route to a Welch Hospital. Death
was Attributed to a heart attack.
Born July 2, 1800 at Glen Fork,
he was the son of the late Reed
and Catherine Acord Brooks.
He was a member of the Guyandotte
Baptist Church at Jesseand the Odd
Fellows Lodge in Ravencliff and was
a retired Wyoming County School teacher
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Verna Cook Brooks; a daughter
Mrs. Doyle (Helen) Cook of Oceana;
three brothers, Carroll of Matheny,
Pate of Ravencliff and Roy of Pineville;
a sister Mrs. Susie McGraw of Mullens;
and two grandchildren.
