Early Life: He was born in American Fork, Utah, on April 30, 1918, the son of Thomas Wilkin and Martha Elizabeth Jacklin Brown. He was the youngest of five children. Growing up during the Great Depression, he learned the value of hard work. As a young man, he worked on farms, on the Southern Pacific Railroad and at a lumber mill.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps. On June 20, 1942, he married Norma E. Marshall in St. Louis, Missouri. Their marriage was solemnized on July 2, 1963, in Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are the parents of four children. He graduated from Utah State University in Dairy Manufacturing. He worked for a time in that field, but spent most of his career as a foreman on the coke ovens at Geneva Steel. He was a man of many interests and talents, a jack of all trades and a man of service. He was famous for his candy making and his gardening. He also enjoyed photography and crocheting. He gave much of his time in service to the Church, including a full time mission to New Zealand with his wife, Norma. Earl Samuel Brown passed away October 20, 2014. He was 96.
Survived By: His children: Wendell (Glee) Brown, Earlene (David) MacMeekin, Doug (Debra) Brown and Dennis (Karen) Brown; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased By: His wife, parents, granddaughter, three brothers and a sister.
