Fern Elizabeth Mitchell Kielland, of Holladay, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Cottonwood Place Senior Living.

She was born November 10, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Alvin Mitchell and Frances Elizabeth Butterwood.

She was married to Sydney Kielland on June 19, 1942. Their marriage lasted seventy-two years until the time of his passing on November 16, 2013.

Fern is survived by two children, Karon Tilson (George) of Holladay and Steve Kielland of Centerville; one granddaughter, Teri Menna (Jeff), of Austin, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie Menna and Kolby Menna, also of Austin. She is also survived by her brother, Alvin J. Mitchell, and his children.

Mom especially loved traveling with her daughter and son. They were fortunate to travel on several cruises together. She loved spending time at Bear Lake and their summer home near Flaming Gorge.

She dearly loved her two tiny poodles, C.C. and Mindy.

During basketball season, she could be found in front of the television cheering for the Utah Jazz.

"We will miss you, Mom!"

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olympus Stake Center, 2675 East 4430 South, where friends and family may visit prior to the services from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Bountiful Memorial Park.
