Ruby, born August 12, 1901 in Wolverton, Minnesota, attended rural schools, Bemidji College, and later received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Home Economics from the University of Minnesota. Ruby taught home economics at Hudson, Wisconsin for 7 years and later worked as Home Extension Agent in Missouri for 7 years. The west lured Ruby and she settled as Clallam County Extension Agent working with Homemaker and 4-H Clubs for 19 years.
Ruby had many hobbies over the years. She was a member of the Soroptimist Club and enjoyed painting, bridge, entertaining and traveling. She explored England, the Orient, the Scandinavian countries, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, and most of the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii. Ruby enjoyed the out-of-doors, hiking and camping and the companionship she found through her special interest in the Klahanie Club of Port Angeles.
Ruby is survived by her sister, Lottie Brelsford, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Claude, Ray and Howard Knudson.
Hundreds of you have remembered Ruby in many endearing ways during the last few months of her fight with cancer. She truly enjoyed the cards you sent, and appreciated every gesture and note of concern for her well-being. Thank you everyone.
