Nelson and Mandy were married on 23 April 1860 in Dakota Township, Humboldt County, Iowa. They lived in Lotts Creek (1860), Dakota (1870) and Hand Grove (1880) Townships before moving to Johnstown, Brown, Nebraska (1885). By 1895 they had resettled in Kalispell, Flathead, Montana but sold out to their son Bert in 1900 and went further west, settling in Deer Park, Spokane, Washington. By the time Nelson had died in 1914, Mandy had gone blind. She lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Esther McHenry (1915, 1920) but sometime following that census count and her death in 1922 she moved (or was moved to) Independence, Polk, Oregon. It is possible that Earl and Esther lived there, briefly; or she may have been living with her daughter Katherine who is found in Oregon in the 1930 census.
