Rock Musician. A native of London, England, he was born Adrian John Godfrey. He was the guitarist and a founding member with his late brother Kevin Paul 'Epic Soundtracks' Godfrey, Jowe Head, and Richard Earl, of the musical group the 'Swell Maps,' in 1972. The band noted as 'noisy and experimental' were considered one of the first bands of new wave, and helped to open the door for such other acts as Pavement, and Sonic Youth. The band who were together until they disbanded in 1980, released such albums as, "A Trip To Marineville" (1979), and "Jane From Occupied Europe" (1980), and three compilation albums. There recordings include, 'H.S. Art,' 'Full Moon In My Pocket,' 'Midget Submarines,' 'Harmony In My Bathroom,' 'Gunboats,' 'Adventuring Into Basketry,' 'Dresden Style,' 'Let's Build A Car,' 'Read About Seymour,' 'Robot Factory,' 'Let's Buy A Bridge,' 'Cake Shop,' and 'The Helicopter Spies,' among others. After the group broke up in 1980, the members became solo artists,and became involved in other musical groups, including Sudden who formed, 'The Jacobites,' with Dave Kusworth, Mark Lemon, and his brother Epic Soundtracks. In 1986, Kusworth left the group but Sudden kept the name and continued to record with the group, mostly as a backup band, until 1993, when Kusworth came back. The group also added Glenn Tranter, Mark Williams, and Carl Eugene Picot. In 1997 Sudden's bother was Epic Soundtracks was found dead in his London flat from unknown causes. Between 1998 and 2006, he continued to have successes, mainly as a solo artist, and appearing at concerts, and other music venues. On March 26, 2006, following a gig at the Knitting Factory in New York, Sudden passed away at the age of 49. At the time of his death he had been working on his autobiography, "The Last Bandit," and had just released a new solo album, "The Truth Doesn't Matter." Sudden also wrote for numerous magazines, and a biography about Ronnie Wood.
