Alan Hasselquist, son of Wm. L. and Lillian Hasselquist, was born Jan. 7, 1919 at Gregory, South Dakota.

He was united in marriage to Lola Johnson Nov. 5, 1939. They were blessed with two daughters, Nancy and Karen.

He moved to Malvern, Iowa at the age of three, and spent the remainder of his life in the Malvern community.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and manifested his love for his family. As a farmer he loved to work with the soil and with nature, which brought him in touch with his creator.

He was a member of Malvern United Methodist Church and was active in many other community activities.

Alan Hasselquist passed away Nov. 2, 1971 at his home, of a heart attack, near Malvern, Iowa at the age of 52 years and 10 months.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Left to honor his memory are his wife, Lola; two daughters Nancy (Rick) Paserella of Arvada, Colorado and Karen(Dr. James) Gibson of East Lansing, Michigan; three grandchildren: Bradley and Debra Gibson and Marsha Passerella; his father, Wm. Hassequist and stepmother, Eulalie; three sisters, Mrs. Helen McPherson, Greely, Colorado; Mrs. Dorothy Plumb and Mrs. Hazel Buch of Tampa, Florida, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Alan L. Hasselquiest were held Friday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist church, officiated by the Rev. Clarence Woollard.

Casket bearers were Gerald Garst, Ralph Bower, Archie Scott, Maurice Alberts, Eric Edlund, and Elmer Edlund. Ushers were Paul Hopp, Keith Henderson and Max Dashner.

The musical selection, "Beyond the Sunset", was played by Warren Darrah, organist. Mrs. Ralph Bower was at the registry book, and in charge of the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Alva Henderson and Mrs. Archie Scott.

Interment was in the Malvern cemetery.
