Leo Gabel, 79, 405 E. Sixth, died Monday, Aug. 25 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1900 at Munjor, the son of of Anton and Anna (Katzendorn) Gabel.

He married Emma Dechant in November 1925 at Munjor. A retired laborer, Gabel was a life-long resident of Ellis County.

Survivors include six sons, Gilbert, Herbert and Melvin, all of Hays, Robert and Hilarius, both of Denver, and Vernon, Minot, N.D.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Befort, Munjor; three brothers, Hilarius, Melchior and Edmund, all of Munjor; four sisters, Mrs. Rosa Knoll, Morland, Mrs. Elizabeth Leiker, Hays, Sister Regina, Ellis, and Mrs. Adolphine Pfannenstiel, Dodge City; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, where the parish wake will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
