Kirby L. Smith

Kirby L. Smith went home to be with his Lord on April 16, 2013. He was born on Oct. 8, 1949 in Duluth, MN to Grace and Bernard Smith. He and his family moved to Grand Rapids, MN in 1958 where he lived until graduation from high school. Kirby and the love of his life, Linda (Rasmussen) Smith graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and were married in 1976. They moved to the Greenwood/Phinney area of Seattle where they spent their entire 37 years of marriage. Kirby was a commercial real estate appraiser and M.A.I. for the past 30 years, including as owner of "Kirby Smith & Associates, Inc." for the past 12 years. He was an Elder at Philadelphia Church in Ballard for 19 years and an active member of Westgate Chapel in Edmonds for the past 17 years. Kirby leaves behind a remarkable legacy of quiet strength and unwavering faith and integrity. He loved his Lord and his family with all of his heart. He cherished his role as grandfather to Caz and Kayson, who can't imagine life without their "funny grandpa". Kirby leaves behind his devoted wife, Linda; daughter, Wendy Huebner (Cameron); son, Tyler Smith (Subha); brother, Terry Smith (Liz); sister, Sherri Palkki (Len); stepfather, Lloyd Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Bernard Smith.

A celebration of Kirby's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th, at Westgate Chapel (22901 Edmonds Way, Edmonds, WA 98020). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of the following organizations: Union Gospel Mission, P.O.
