She was born the fifth child of Joseph J. and Matilda (Wirth) Dunkel on Jan. 9, 1919, in Mt. Carmel. She married Oscar J. Peters on Aug 24, 1938. Irene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She worked as a seamstress at Stansfield’s, Liddle’s Menswear and Suit Shack. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing cards, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are 7 children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a sister.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Oscar (Mar 14, 2005); infant son, Donnie Peters (Aug 1945); brothers: Fred and LeRoy Dunkel; sisters: Eleanor Peters and Hilda Gher; and three great-grandchildren.
