RAND, John E. Age 78, of Hamilton, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 6:40 a.m. in Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise. He was born February 27, 1927, in Massillon, Ohio, the son of Frank and Mattie (Pullen) Rand. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in the South Pacific. He married Thelma Stivers on February 19, 1949, in Liberty, Indiana. He was employed as a Pipefitter for Local Union #392, retiring in 1989. He was a family man, loving and proud of his grandchildren. He loved his garden and enjoyed flowers. He is survived by two sons, Greg Rand and wife Joanne and Darrell Rand and wife, Teresa; one daughter, Linda Conrad and husband, Dennis; one sister Janet Hunley, all of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Jason Rand, Tonya (Rand) Bushelmann, April (Conrad) Weekley, David Conrad, Jonathan, Matthew and Michael Rand and four great-grandchildren, Austin and Kiersten Rand, Tommy Bushelmann and Nick Couch. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth McKinney, Helen Wilson and Edna Webb. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2005 at the convenience of the family at Weigel Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Shanaberger officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Hamilton, 896 N. W. Washington Blvd., Hamilton, OH 45013.
