The Weston Independent, Tues. 16 Nov. 1915:
"WOOFTER, MRS. MELVINA, died at her home near Freemansburg Sunday, about age 84. First husband was named Ervin, he died. One daughter, now wife of W. H. Hall. Second, to Alfred Woofter, ten children, all living but three. Surviving, Mrs. Lot Hall, Mrs. James McKinley, Mrs. R. A. Hall, Charles, William, Olin (youngest), and Dr. Jesse Woofter.
"The Weston Democrat, Fri. 19 Nov. 1915:
"Died at her home at Freemansburg Sunday in her 85th year. A twin brother, Thornsberry S. Reed yet living at Hurst this county. Their mother died at age 104 at Mrs. Woofter's home. Mrs. Woofter was the widow of Alfred Woofter and mother of Dr. J. A. Woofter of Weston."
