ROCKWELL — Floyd J. Schlorholtz, 79, of 120 Seventh St. N., Rockwell, died early Wednesday morning, (Oct. 11, 2006) at his home in Rockwell.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 E. Elm St., Rockwell, with Father Craig E. Steimel and Father Patrick Geary presiding. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Rockwell. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Gallagher Post No. 208 of Rockwell.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Sacred Heart School Chapel in Rockwell. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus Rosary Council No. 13314 and a Scripture vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the Sacred Heart school chapel.

Floyd John Schlorholtz was born April 10, 1927, in Breda, Iowa, to Abel J. and Emma (Becker) Schlorholtz. He graduated from Wall Lake High School, class of 1944. Floyd was a U.S. Navy veteran who honorably and faithfully served his country.
On Jan. 26, 1950, Floyd was united in marriage to Louise Reiff at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Carroll County, Iowa. To this union seven children were born.
Floyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had been employed as a technical engineer in heating and cooling and was most recently with Plumb Supply in Mason City for 20 years, until retiring in 1991.
He had a great passion for fishing, camping, tinkering and woodworking. Floyd enjoyed meeting and drinking coffee with friends in Rockwell. He loved caring for his family and took great pride in all that he accomplished.
He will be best remembered as a man who was compassionate, friendly and very loving. As well as being spiritual and resourceful, Floyd loved to give and receive hugs from family and friends. He was very active in the Sacred Heart Church, was the past chaplain of the American Legion Gallagher Post No. 208, a member of the Knights of Columbus Rosary Council No. 13314 and served as the director of the Wigwam-N-Wagon Campers for many years.
Floyd will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Floyd’s life are his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Louise “Lou” Schlorholtz of Rockwell; his seven children: Sandy (Steve) Karabatsos, of Rockwell, Barb (Tom) Eddy, of Green Lake, Wis., Craig (Barb) Schlorholtz, of Independence, Kan., Scott (Patty) Schlorholtz, of Roland, Iowa, Mark (Judy) Schlorholtz, of Bloomington, Minn., Mary (Jim) Meggers, of Mason City and Mike (Julie) Schlorholtz, of Ankeny, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, Tom, Heidi, Amy, Andy, Molly, Robyn, Chad, Ben, Cortny, Sara, Jon, Tim, Brooke, Isaac, Chrissy and Nate; two great-grandchildren, Ceilia and Luke; one brother, the Rev. Alfred (Peggy) Schlorholtz, of Dunedin, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mary Schlorholtz, of Stroudsburg, Pa.; and Floyd is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bernard and Wayne Schlorholtz; sister and brother-in-law, Carrie (James) Cruchelow; and sister-in-law, Marian Huff-Polka.
