Olivia P. McKay Russell Downing Lott was the daughter of Ira Bird McKay and Harriet A Huff. She was married three times: (1) Armstead Lafayette Russell, (2) Benjamin F. Downing ( 2 Dec 1884 in Hinds Co., MS), (3) John A. Lott (27 Sep 1917 in Harrison Co., MS by Rev. G.H. Duke, per book 29 - p. 404). Olivia had two sons: Armstead McLain "Mack" Russell, and Rowan Henry Downing.


BEAUVOIR, May 21 (Special) --- Mrs. James [sic] A. Lott, age 68, widow of confederate veteran and inmate of the Jefferson Davis Soldiers Home dropped dead in the G. & S. I. depot at Hattiesburg Wednesday afternoon at noon. She had been on a visit to relatives and was at the depot to buy a ticket back to Beauvoir when she was stricken with apoplexy and died immediately. The news of her death was telephoned to Superintendent Tartt at Beauvoir, and Mrs. Tartt left for Hattiesburg on the first train to accompany the body back to the Soldiers Home. The funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Beauvoir church by Rev. Scharbrough, Methodist minister of Biloxi. The interment took place in the Soldiers Home cemetery. Mr. R. H. Downing, a son from Bogolusa [sic], La., attended the funeral. Mrs. Lott entered the Home from Hinds county in 1917, as Mrs. Olivia Downing. She was married to Mr. James [sic] A. Lott, a confederate veteran and inmate of the Home in 1916 [sic]. Mr. Lott died here in January.

TO REST IN BEAUVOIR CEMETERY

Hattiesburg, May 22 --- The body of Mrs. J.A. Lott, who died suddenly yesterday just after stepping off a Mississippi Central train was carried to Beauvoir Thursday by Mrs. Ellnathan Tartt, wife of superintendent of the Home for Confederate Soldiers and their widows. Mrs. Lott's burial will be in the cemetery there. She was an inmate of the home and left to visit relatives near Brookhaven. She died after starting on the return trip.
