Dean Lewis Cummins Dean Lewis Cummins passed on Sunday, March 1, 2009, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His family and friends celebrated his humor, generosity, and eternal optimism on Saturday, March 7, at a private gathering. Born on August 9, 1922 to Tay and Jessie (Ryder) Cummins, Dean grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan, graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1940, served in France and Germany during WWII, and earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Michigan (Go Blue) in Petroleum Geology. His career took him throughout the United States before he settled in Greeley, Colorado, where he married Dalene Hinman in 1965, and was blessed with his daughter Andrea (1968) and son Christopher (1970). Dean and Dalene divorced in 1991. Later, he lived in Ft. Collins and then moved to Castle Rock and Colorado Springs near his adored grandsons Tay and Riley Cummins, sons of Chris and Sheila Cummins. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, and niece Kathy Glen. His remaining family includes his daughter, son and their families; his cat, Nick; his nieces and nephews, Pat, Paul, Rob, Ann, Tom, and Fred; and 3 generations of extended family.
