Susan moved from Wheatland, Monroe, New York to Painesville, Lake, Ohio with her husband, John Whitney, and children, Almira, Emmett, Dallas, and Frank in the 1840's or early 1850's. They had two more children, George and Ida, born in Painesville. About 1860 or before, the family moved to Putnam County, Ohio, where John died in 1861. Susan moved her family back to Painesville. Sometime after 1880, Susan moved to Wexford County, Michigan, I assume to be nearer to her daughter, Almira Whitney Valleau, and her family.
