Christened on August 24, 1814 at Lund, near Beverley, East Yorkshire
Reverend Dr Francis James Lundy, D.C.L., matriculated from University College, Oxford in May 1833, and in 1836 emigrated to Lower Canada, British North America, to teach and eventually to take up the position of Head Master at the Classical School of Quebec City
On May 11, 1837 he married Henrietta Eliza Sewell, daughter of Chief Justice Jonathan Sewell and Henrietta {Smith} Sewell, at the English Church of the Holy Trinity, Quebec; the service was conducted by the bride's brother, the Rev Edmund Willoughby Sewell. There were 7 children of the union, 6 girls and 1 boy
About 1846 Reverend Lundy was appointed assistant minister of the Anglican Church at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Lincoln County, Ontario
In 1849 Reverend Lundy was appointed rector of the Anglican Church at Grimsby, Lincoln County, Ontario; he served in that capacity until 1865
Widowed in November 1847, he married secondly on October 2, 1849, to Louisa Tench, daughter of Captain Humphrey John Tench and Maria Frances {Carruthers} Tench, in St John's Church, Stamford, Welland County, Ontario
He was Provincial Grand Chaplain of Upper Canada and Master of the Union Lodge, Grimsby. He also held the office of Grand Prelate of the Knights Templar
In 1865 he moved to the United States, and became engaged in teaching the classics. Eventually he became rector of an Episcopal Church at Elizabeth, New Jersey, and subsequently of Saint George's at Newburgh, New York State
Reverend Dr Lundy died in Chambers Street, Newburgh-on-the-Hudson, New York State, in the 54th year of his age
