Gray, Frederick Lee (Fred) 84, Irving, Texas, passed away on Friday October 29, 2010 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Fred was born in Jethro, Arkansas on March 27, 1926 to Lawrence and Queen Gray of Watalulua Arkansas. The family later relocated to Canton, Oklahoma where they raised their family. Fred attended Canton Public School and Oklahoma A and M University (OSU) graduating with a degree in journalism. He married Geneva Katherine Hamilton at the First Christian Church of Canton on December 24, 1950. Fred began his career with the Social Security Administration in Tulsa, Oklahoma serving as a field representative. He retired in 1984 as the Acting Regional Commissioner of Social Security for Dallas 5 State Region. He served his country in the United States Army in Manila as a staff journalist. Fred was an avid golfer and enjoyed all kinds of sports. He was a great pool player and loved a good game of cards or dominos. He was the master of one liners and a gifted speaker. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his compassion towards those he came in contact with throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Geneva (Jinx), two children Craig of Wichita, Kansas and Kelly of San Antonio and son in law James Snider as well as 3 grandchildren, David, Jennifer and Katy. He is also survived by his brother Cecil Gray of Canton, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Queen Gray, his brothers, JL and Gerald Gray. Fred has donated his body to the Southwestern Medical School for scientific research. There will be no formal memorial service. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Avalon Alzheimer's Care Horn for their support during Fred's struggle with this terrible disease.
