He married Emma Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hunt, 11 June 1916 in McDonald County. They had four daughters:

FOUND FLOATING IN MISSOURI RIVER, HE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE SUFFERED HEART ATTACK


WEBB CITY, Mo., Dec. 8. -
The body of Arthur James McMonigle, 54 years old, found at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon floating in the Missouri River at Kansas City, was returned tonight to Webb City for funeral services and burial under direction of Johnston-Arnce-Simpson Mortuary.
Mr. McMonigle, who was born in Carterville September 9, 1899 and lived there most of his life apparently died of a heart attack, and had been dead about three hours when found, the coroner reported. No foul play was indicated. He had been living in Kansas City several years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. R. H. Moore of Fort Worth, TX., and Mrs. Roxie Lee Kaler and Mrs. Lorene Staton of Los Angeles; one sister, Mrs. C. C. Hood of Tulsa, and one half-sister, Mrs. Julia Moss of Texas.
