His will was proven on June 10, 1799 so his Date of Death was prior to that.

There is no record of his actual burial in Brush Creek Cemetery, but it is probable since other family members were buried there. The Revolutionary War marker was placed beside the site of John Sowash's burial. -information provided by Richard Soash #47678170

Since Henry was not naturalized when he arrived with his father, he was under the age of 16 in 1738. He was probably born in Alsace, then a part of Germany. This area between France and Germany has gone back and forth between the two countries for centuries as a result of war. Many French fled Catholic France for Protestant Germany after the Edict of Nantes was revoked in 1685, revoking the rights of religious freedom to the Huguenots in France.

Henry married Maria Anna Esther Schneider on 27 Nov 1749 at Mertz Church in Berks County, PA.

Henry Showash was listed in the Rockland Township, Berks County tax list in 1757 (History of the County of Berks and Lebanon, Rupps, 1844, p.243).

Henry was listed in the 1767 Berks Co., PA. tax list in Rockland Township, owning 150 acres, two horses, two cattle, and four sheep (PA. Archives, Third Series, Vol. XVIII, p. 10).
In 1768 Henry paid taxes on the same property, except he no longer had the cattle and only claimed 100 acres of land (PA. Archives, Third Series, Vol. XVII, p. 10).

Henrich and Esther Sowasche served as sponsors for Anna Elisabetha Falck, born 28 Apr, baptized 10 May 1772 at Christ (or Mertz) Church on Bieber Creek in Rockland Twp., Berks Co., PA. Anna's parents were listed as Christoph and Maria Elisabetha Falck. Maria was their daughter who married Chrisopher Faulk.

Henry and his son Daniel Sowasch enlisted in Captain Daniel Eyester's [Heister ?] Company in September 1776 until January 1777 in the Jerseys to fight in the Revolutionary War (PA. Archives, Sixth Series, Vol. II, p. 601).

In the 1779 Berks County tax list, Henry had 150 acres, two horses and three cattle. His son Daniel was also listed in this tax list with no property.

Henry does not appear in 1780 tax list though he still owned land.
Sometime between 1779 and 1783, Henry's wife Maria Anna Esther died as Henry was listed as a widower in a 1783 deed record (p.471) At this time he sold his land in Berks County as he is listed as "Henry Sowass of the State of Virginia, Widower." Jacob Gaumer, son-in-law of Henry, and Henry were both listed in the 1782 tax list of Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia). Two of his other daughters Johanna Elizabeth (Sowash) Faulk and Susanna (Sowash) DeLong also seem to have moved to Berkelely County.

Henry appeared in the Derry Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, tax list of 1786. Henry seems to be with his son Daniel in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County in the first U.S. Census of 1790.

Henry made his will on 07 May 1795 which was probated in Westmoreland County on 10 Jun 1799 (Bk 1, p. 151). No record of burial has been located. It seems highly probable that he was buried in Brush Creek Cemetery in Westmoreland County, PA. A gravestone was erected by the Sauvage/Sowash/Soash Family Association in Brush Creek Cemetery.
