Ruth Byrd Barrier, age 81, of Brownstone Drive in Marion died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home.
Ruth was born on February 2, 1933 in McDowell County and was the daughter of the late Harvey and Carrie Mace Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother; Willie Byrd and a great grandson; Jonathan Burgin.
She loved her family and particularly her grandchildren and spending time with them. She loved gardening and her flowers and singing in the church choir.
Left to cherish her memories her husband of forty-four years of the home, Max Barrier, her five daughters, her two sisters, both of Marion; her two brothers, both of Marion; and special friend to the family of Marion, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Ruth Barrier at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Hicks Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Chad Wise and Mark Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow in the Turkey Cove Cemetery.
