My Uncle Dante, or "Uncle Dunn" was born in 1929 in New York. He was the youngest of 8 children. He was a big man with a big heart. He and his wife, Mary married later in life, so they had no children of their own, but they doted on their many nieces and nephews. They moved from Queens to Long Island in the 1970's and ended up living within walking distance to where we lived. As a child, I was able to walk to his house almost any time I pleased.
Uncle Dunn was a marvelous cook. He was also a gifted painter and wood carver. Upon his death, I was fortunate enough to receive one of his many carvings.
Uncle Dunn had Alzheimer's Disease and died in 2002 at age 73. He is still greatly missed.
