Ruby K. Wegner, 82, was born to William H. and Hedwig Wegner. She was baptized, attended eight years of parochial school and was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, NE. Her father died in 1937 after which she, her mother and two younger sisters moved from a large farm to acreage in Battle Creek, NE. She attended Battle Creek High School for three years. In 1944 the family moved to Brighton, Colorado. She then graduated from Brighton High School in 1946. Her first employment was with the Gaunt and Byrne law firm and Dr. John Timming. She next worked as a secretary at the Kuner Empson Canning Company, after which she began her career as a secretary to the Superintendent for School District 27J, a position she held for 39 years. Ruby was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving her Lord in many ways. She loved to sing praises of her Lord and was an active choir member from 1944 through 2009. Ruby lived her faith by being a loving and caring person, doing kind things for others. She was very involved in telling children about Jesus through children’s summer Bible School. Preceding besides her father were her mother and infant brother. Surviving were sisters Wilma (Dean) Mohling of Exter, MO and Eunice (Richard) Zander of Vancouver, WA. Funeral Services held July 31 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1400 Skeel St., Brighton, and August 2 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel, 910 Park Ave., Norfolk. Memorial Contributions to Bethesda Lutheran Home, 5630 S. Curtice St., Littleton 80120. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled arrangements.
