The eighth of nine children born to John & Ruth (Gaither) Warfield of Warfield's Plains Plantation in Anne Arundel Co MD, Edward married Rachel Riggs on 6 Oct 1741, the daughter of John Jr & Mary (Davis) Riggs. They married in Christ Church, Queen Carolne Parish, Anne Arundel Co MD. This church is now called Christ Episcopal and that part of Anne Arundel Co is now a part of Howard Co.

Maryland Marriage Records 1634-1777, Pg 187:
"Warfield, Edward, 6 Oct. 1741, Rachel Riggs. 6 AA-217" Married by Rev James MacGill.

Children with Rachel:
1) Ephraim Warfield (1742-1832), never married.
2) Edward Warfield Jr, (1745-1768), never married.
3) Achsah Warfield (1747-1840), m: Joseph Hall.
4) Robert Warfield (1749-1818), never married.
5) James Harvey Warfield (1751-1812), m: Anne Gassaway.
6) Levin Warfield (1753-1812), m: Anne Hobbs.
7) Ruth Warfield (b. 1756), never married.
8) Catherine Warfield (b. 1758), never married.
9) Rachel Warfield (b. 1760), m: Noah Hobbs.
10) Sarah Riggs Warfield (1762-aft 1810), m: Zachariah Gaither.
11) Elizabeth Warfield (b. 1764), m: James Ray.
12) Edward Warfield III, (born just after the death of his namesake brother, in 1768), m: Mary Ann Warfield, his 2C1xR.

As was required by all men over the age of 18, Edward signed an Oath of Fidelity in 1778.

From his Uncle Alexander Warfield, Edward inherited 200 acres called Venison Park, a tract that was located in the Huntingdon Hundred area of Anne Arundel Co MD.

"Edward and his family held Pew 23 at Queen Caroline's Parish Church. Established in 1727 in Anne Arundel Co MD, now [a part of] Howard Co MD, the church is now known as Christ Episcopal."

In Anne Arundel Co MD, Edward left a Will. Written on 20 Apr 1786 and probated on 13 Feb 1787:
To his wife he left the dwelling plantation; to sons James and Ephraim and daughter Elizabeth, the privilege of living at the home plantation while they were unmarried; to sons Robert, Levin and Edward, the tract "Additional Chance Increased", to be divided equally; to children Ephraim, Robert, James, Levin, Edward, Achsah Hall, Rachel Hobbs, Sarah Gaither and Elizabeth Warfield, slaves.
