The son of John & Ruth (Gaither) Warfield of Warfield's Plains Plantation, Millersville, Anne Arundel Co MD, John married Rachel Dorsey in 1740 in Anne Arundel Co MD, the daughter of Captain Joshua & Anne (Ridgely) Dorsey of Major's Choice Plantation in Elk Ridge, Anne Arundel Co MD, now a part of Howard Co MD.

1) Anne Warfield (1741-1802); m. John Wayman, s/o Leonard & Ann (Rutland) Wayman.
2) Doctor John Warfield III (b. 1744); never married.
3) Sarah Warfield (1746-1776); m. Colonel Henry Griffith Jr, s/o Henry & Elizabeth (Dorsey) Griffith.
4) Henry Warfield (b. 1748); no further info, may have died young.

In the name of God Amen this eighth day of February Seventeen Hundred Seventy three I John Warfield of Ann Arundel County knowing the Uncertainty of this Stet doe make this my Last Will and Testament --
I Give and bequeath to my beloved Wife Rachel the plantation whereon I now live and the Lands Adjoining (excepting fifty Acres in the Kirk [looks like]) and the Seven following Negros Namely Robin Jacob Jack Priss Sucey Lettise & Celia, and Also her thirds in my other Lands and in my Stock and Household furniture to Enable her to Educate and maintain my Younger Children, during her Widowhood, but in case She Should Marry again then to be entitled to nothing more of my Estate, but the one Third part. --
I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Son Charles Warfield and his Heirs forever five Hundred Acres of my Land in the Barrens, to include the plantation whereon he now lives, and to be laid of on the South side of the main Road and at the lowermost End of the Land, on that side of the Road, and my Negro Boy Tom, And also the sum of Twenty five pounds Current Money to be paid him out of my Estate, and in case my said Son Should die without Heirs it is then my Will that the Lands devised him should be equally divided between all his Sisters and the Survivors of them and those Heirs forever. I also give to beloved Son Charles the sum of Seven pounds Sterling to pay for the Thirty Acres of Land I bought of John Cook and Charles Grayham lying in my said Sons plantation --
I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Son Joshua, and his Heirs forever three Hundred and fifty acres of Land in the Barrens to be laid of on the North Side of the Main Road and Adjoining Benny Warfields Land and Also fifty Acres of the Land Adjoining my dwelling plantation called the Kirk [looks like], and also my dwelling plantation with all my Lands adjoining after his Mothers Decease, and my Negro Man named Ivay [looks like] and my Boys Dick and Sam and my Negro Girl named Nan And in case my Son Joshua should died without Heirs it is then my Will that the Land Devised him in the Barrens goe to my Son Charles and his Heirs forever, and the other Lands devised him to be divided between all his Sisters and the Survivors of them and those Heirs forever, I also give to my said Son Joshua as much Board or Shingle Timber to be taken of my Land called the New design Land as Will Cover him two dwelling houses one Tobacco House and one Corn House in the Barrens and also the sum of twenty five pounds Current money --
I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Son Jon and his Heirs forever all my Land called the new design Lands, only that he shall Allow his Brother Joshua to have the Timber as devised him, and also the Remainder of my Lands in that Barrens And in case my Son John Should die without Heirs it is then my Will that all the Lands devised him should go to my Son Joshua and his Heirs forever, and in this case, my Will is further, that my dwelling plantation should after the Death of my Wife be equally divided between all my Daughters in the same manner, as is provided by this my Will in case Joshua should die without Heirs -- I also give and bequeath to my Son John my two Negro Girls named Sall & Patt this being in full for his part of my Estate --
I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Daughter Ann Wayman my Negro Girl named Easter -
I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Daughter Sarah Griffith my Negro Girl named Poll -
I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Daughter Amelia my Negro Girls named Marian and Beck And also the Sum of Twenty Seven pounds ten Shillings Current Money to be paid her out of my Estate --
I Give and Bequeath to my beloved Daughter Rachel Warfield my Negro Girls named Kate and Seng [looks like] and Also the sum of twenty Seven pounds ten Shillings Current Money to be paid her out of my Estate and Also the Saddle and furniture which is Sent for, for her ---
And lastly it is ,y Will that all the Residue of my Estate be Equally divided between my Six children namely Ann Sarah Amelia Rachel, Charles & Joshua and the Survivors of them and doe appoint my beloved Wife and my Son John my only and sole Executors of this my Last Will, only directing that all differences in the division or settling of my Estate be left to my beloved friends Namely Henry Ridgely and Henry Griffith hereby revoking and disannulling all other Will and Testaments ---
