Sandra Ballard Sooey, age 70, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009, after a brief illness.
Born August 12, 1938, daughter of Grady Cecil Ballard (1915–1985) and Etta Mae Hayslip Ballard (1914–1993); wife of Carl Sooey.
A graduate of Converse College and held an MEd. in English and Education; played 2nd chair violin in the Spartanburg Symphony Orchestra for 32 years; taught in High Schools, Community Colleges, Churches, and Correctional Institutes; also a graduate of Spiritual Science; taught therapy and held workshops in "Dare to be You"; traveled extensively seeking her personal and spiritual growth which eventually led her to scale the heights of the Mountains of Machu Pichu in Peru; a Published Author of "How to Find Your Lost child and Learn to Play Again" and her last and greatest leap of faith was Sky Diving at the age of 67.
Also survived by two sons, Hal Gaines Warlick, III (Sandy) and Grady Christopher Warlick; daughter, Sandra Leigh Warlick; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 8, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, led by Ministers Chad O'Shea, Bob Pruitt, and Dr. Bill Arthur.
Memorials could be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, Spartanburg, SC.
