On December 28, 1953 Mae was united in marriage with Norman W. Nieuwsma in Pella, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Les and Marla.
Mae was employed in the printing department of Pella Corporation for twenty years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, and yard work. Her favorite place was "home." Mae and Norm were members of the Second Christian Reformed Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Norman; her son and his wife: Les and Carla (De Nooy) Nieuwsma of Pella; his daughter and her husband: Marla and Clint Vos of Sully; grandchildren: Levi (April) Nieuwsma, Luke Nieuwsma and his fiance' Jeanetta Groenendyk, Lance Nieuwsma, Curt (Candice) Vos, Mindy (Ben) Six; Lindsay Vos and her fiance' Jonathan Golliet, and Stacia Vos; great-grandchildren: Brenden Six, Colton Vos, Bailey Vos, Makenna Six; and two sisters: Lillian (Ralph) Van Roekel and Rose (John) Van Den Berg.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her sister, Bonnie Miller
