He was an attorney at Doylestown, PA, who served in the 45th Pennsylvania State Guard in July-August of 1863, and relocated to Fresno, California (where his brother George was a police officer) about 1885. He died of Tuberculosis at the County Hospital in April 1898 and is buried in an unmarked grave at what is now called Liberty Veterans Cemetery in Fresno.
