COPYRIGHTS: According to the US Copyright Office, "For works made for hire and anonymous and pseudonymous works, the duration of copyright is 95 years from first publication or 120 years from creation, whichever is shorter (unless the author's identity is later revealed in Copyright Office records, in which case the term becomes the author's life plus 70 years)
Obituaries from newspapers are "works for hire". This means that if you find an obituary from MORE than 95 years ago, it's ok to post it verbatim. If it is more recent than that, please paraphrase it before asking me to add it to my records. If you don't, I may not have time to paraphrase it myself, and as a result, it may not get added.
If you see a record where I, myself have made this mistake (and I know I have before I learned of this law), feel free to nicely ask me to fix it, and I will do it.
