Heather Beachey Hayes, 40, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, October 2, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa after being diagnosed with cancer June 19.

She was born Aug. 30, 1974 in San Salvador, El Salvador.

On May 6, 2000, she married Richard Hayes in Goshen.

He survives along with two sons, Zachery and Kyle at home; her parents Dale and Verda Beachey; a sister, Heidi (Tom) Elonich of Goshen, two nephews, Preston and Carson Elonich; a niece, Hannah Elonich; grandparents, Alvin and Mary Kauffman and Sarah Beachey; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Henry Beachey.

A 1993 graduate of Sarasota Christian High School, Heather moved to the area to study at Goshen College. She worked as a direct support person at ADEC. She had a passion to serve people with special needs.
